Murder Suspect Recaptured in Argentina After Jail Escape

Buenos Aires, December 6 (NA) -- Lucas Torres, one of the suspects in the murder of Julián Dobra, who had escaped from the Third Police Station in General Roca, was recaptured in the same city. According to the Argentine News Agency (NA), based on information from local media, Torres, 18, was found thanks to a neighbor's alert that indicated the possible location of the young man, who was alone in the yard of a house located on Honduras Street in the Fisque Menuco neighborhood of General Roca. The accused had escaped along with Ramiro Ezequiel Sosa, 24, another prisoner serving a sentence for property crimes committed in 2021. Although Sosa remains at large, the recaptured suspect provided information about Sosa's clothing. The escape occurred between 2 and 2:30 a.m. after breaking the bars that lead to the yards and roofs of the cells, and then they went out onto the public street without being seen by the guards. Dobra was murdered on April 17, and Torres is said to have been part of the group that planned a meeting with the victim to deceive him and beat him to death with a firearm. The prosecutor also stated that the suspect participated in the execution of the homicide by appropriating a car to enter Julián's house, where he allegedly stole a bicycle and a video game console. The accused faces charges for aggravated homicide by the concerted action of two or more people and for the use of a firearm, and for qualified theft by the use of a true stolen key, both aggravated by the participation of minors.
